Promoting sustainable development
Sustainable development requires equitable sharing of the costs and benefits of economic and social development, today and into the future. We support this by:
- Helping employers achieve decent work and labour standards.
- Supporting civil society and workforce voice and participation.
- Fostering employment and livelihoods in fragile states.
Here are some example projects:
- In Sierra Leone, for a DFID project rated 'exemplary', we supported artisanal miners to improve their situation through collective organisation. More
- The Freshwater Action Network commissioned us to organise and facilitate dialogue between community organisations and the World Bank. More
- For the UK Department for International Development, we studied how European governments use public procurement to promote labour standards. More
- On behalf of the World Bank, Public World organised and moderated a multi-lingual electronic consultation about the World Development Report. More
