Ethics and Interns

Internships are good for interns and their employers alike, aren’t they? Social enterprises, charities and NGOs set good examples about how to employ interns, don’t they?

Not sure? Neither were we. So Public World managing director Brendan Martin researched and wrote two articles for the British daily newspaper The Guardian to stimulate discussion about the issues. Go here for his piece about how charities and NGOs use interns, along with the lively online debate it stimulated. And go here for his article about social enterprises and interns.

In partnership with the Hub Kings Cross, we also held a public conversation in London on Thursday 24 November. Facilitated by Veena Vasista, we heard from War on Want, Futerra Sustainability Communications, Forum for the Future, Intern Aware, the TUC, the National Union of Journalists, crossbench peer Lord Charles Colville, Bloomtrigger and many interns and former interns.

It was a fascinating evening -- come back soon for a full report.
