London AssociatesCanadian AssociatesMarie Duboc email Adriana Garcia email John Calvert email John Calvert was a special advisor to the New Democratic Party administration in British Columbia, Canada, throughout the 1990s, working principally in three major areas: international trade, Crown Corporation Policy and labour issues. As a member of the Cabinet Policy and Communications Secretariat he was involved in negotiating 35 Public Sector Policy Accords with all the major employers and unions in BC's broader public sector. Previously he was with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Canada s largest union, where he was the National Coordinator for privatization issues. John is a specialist in industrial organisation with a PhD from the London School of Economics. He has written three books on public sector and international trade issues: Government Limited, The Facts on Free Trade and Pandora's Box - NAFTA's Impact on Public Education. In addition he has published published widely on labour relations issues. He is currently on the Labour Studies faculty of Simon Fraser University and is involved in a major study of training policy in BC for York University's Centre for Research on Work and Society. Colleen Fuller email Colleen Fuller is a research associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, a health policy advisor and published author. She has worked extensively in and with the trade union movement in Canada. Her book, Caring for Profit (New Star/CCPA 1998), provides an overview of Canada's public health policy framework and traces the Nafta-facilitated growth of the health industry. Ms Fuller has been published widely and spoken extensively during the last 13 years on health care reform, prescription drug policies, federal and provincial health policies, the Canada Health Act, the impact of trade liberalization on health services, and privatisation. Currently Ms Fuller serves on the board of directors of the Council of Canadians with responsibility for federal health policy issues. In 2001, she co-founded PharmaWatch, a public advocacy group working for increased public involvement in prescription drug safety and regulation. |
